With the development of technology, the number of autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles is increasing day by day. When it comes to autonomous vehicles, the first thing that comes to mind is undoubtedly Tesla. Tesla will no longer be alone in this regard. Tesla’s rival in China, Xpeng, has set its sights on the international market. It will now sell outside of China. In addition to all this, it plans to use smart driving software as a sales point. Here are the details…
Chinese Xpeng plans to compete with Tesla by expanding abroad!
At an event this week, the manufacturer of Xpeng made a statement. The company will begin developing its road-specific Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) for global users in 2024. In addition, the international version of the new generation, multi-purpose XNGP feature will be developed in 2024. If everything goes as planned, Tesla’s rival Xpeng will start hitting the roads in 2025.
“We look forward to allowing overseas users to access Xpeng’s autonomous driving, which is already available in China,” Xiaopeng He, the company’s founder and CEO, said at the event.
Navigation Guided Pilot, or NGP, and its improved version, XNGP, are the equivalent of Tesla’s semi-autonomous driving system, Fully Self-Driving (FSD). In particular, XNGP has many of the capabilities that Xpeng provides, including highway and city driving as well as self-parking. It is also the other name for marketing all advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features.
XNGP uses high-resolution maps to navigate initially. Also recently XNGP removed pre-computed information. Thus, Xpeng vehicles will be able to go anywhere thanks to sensors such as lidars and radars that detect real-time road conditions. We don’t know exactly how Xpeng’s mapless driver assistance system will perform in these unfamiliar regions. Time will show that.
Xpeng was founded in 2014. It then moved outside China for the first time in late 2021, starting with Europe. For the first time, it sent its SUV type vehicles and sports sedans to Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden. Now there are new countries on the road map. In 2024, Germany, France and England will export. Last year, Xpeng began sales in Israel. In this way, he opened the door to the Middle East.
